The Department of Cultural Technology and Communication is pleased to announce the establishment of the Extended Reality Laboratory (XR-Lab), under the direction of Associate Professor Vlasios Kasapakis. With the establishment of XR-Lab, the Department now hosts seven officially established research laboratories, further strengthening its research and educational activities.
XR-Lab focuses on the field of Extended Reality (XR), encompassing Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR). Its research emphasizes the design, development, and evaluation of immersive applications, human–computer interaction, 3D graphics, interactive storytelling, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence within XR environments.
In parallel, the laboratory conducts applied research in areas including culture, cultural heritage, education, tourism, and the creative industries, further enhancing the Department’s international research profile.
