The Department operates computer laboratories for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The computer laboratories available to the Department's undergraduate students are:

• The Human Geography laboratory, located in the basement of the Geography building. It has a total of 26 workstations.
• The two computer laboratories (small and large), located on the 2nd floor of the Geography building. They have a total of 40 workstations.

The laboratories are made available to support the teaching of courses and the laboratory exercises of the Department's Undergraduate Programme of Study. At the same time, they are available to students for the use of Internet services (searching for information online, using electronic mail, etc.).

The computer laboratories available to the Department's postgraduate students are:

• The laboratory located on the ground floor of the Club building, which has a total of 20 workstations. It is made available to support the teaching of courses and the laboratory exercises of the Postgraduate Programme of Study «Cultural Informatics».
• The laboratory located on the 1st floor of the Club building, which has a total of 11 workstations. It is made available to postgraduate students for carrying out their assignments.

For the better operation of the Computer Laboratory and for the safety of the facilities and equipment on the Department's premises, it is essential that the Laboratory Operating Regulations be observed. Each user's password is strictly personal, and the user is solely responsible for whatever happens on a computer while they are using it with their password. The settings for each user's account environment are predefined and common to all, with no possibility of altering them. A user is prohibited from lending their password to anyone else. The same applies to using the password to log in by telephone. The simultaneous use of more than one computer by a single user is not permitted, even if there is an abundance of free computers available for use.

The consumption of food or drink on the laboratory premises, smoking and the use of mobile phones are prohibited. Any rubbish generated during your stay in the laboratory must be placed in the waste baskets located inside or outside the laboratory. The installation of any software package (even freely available software) by any user is prohibited! The contents of each machine's disks are continuously monitored, and if files created by the user are found, they are not only deleted without warning, but sanctions (such as locking the password) may also be imposed on the users! Breaching this restriction in particular may result in the permanent loss of the laboratory access password. On leaving the laboratory, we always shut down the computer on which we were working!

We work only on the computers that have been made available to postgraduate students and on none of the others located in the same space. The laboratory does not provide permanent data storage, and for this reason the use of floppy disks or zip disks to store and transfer your data and the results of your work is considered essential, because data located on the computer's local disks may be deleted without warning. For temporary storage we use only the D: hard disk.

In the event of a breach of the above operating rules, the person in charge of the laboratories has the right to withdraw from student users the right of access (suspension of the account) for a certain period of time.
